This paper compares the performance of a relational database (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL database (MongoDB) in retrieving sets of IP intelligence data for information visualization. After an overview of the history of the two database paradigms, a study reporting the performance of an instance of each is described. Also described is database performance in conjunction with visualization software. Results are compared and discussed.
