U osnovi, XPages predstavlja novi okvir (engl. framework) za razvoj Notes/Domino WEB aplikacija. Objavljen je u sklopu verzije 8.5, te se od tad preporuča za razvoj novih ili nadogradnju postojećih WEB aplikacija. Riječ je o Java Runtime okruženju koje podržava sve definirane značajke WEB 2.0 standarda, te nasljeđuje i proširuje okvir poznat pod imenom JSF (engl. Java Server Faces). Kroz ovaj rad upoznati ćete XPages i osnovne mogućnosti istog. Biti će sagledano podrijetlo i prošlost XPages-a, razmotriti će se inicijalni ciljevi ove tehnologije, pružiti širok pogled na razvojnu paradigmu iste, i na samom kraju razmotriti smjerove u kojima bi se XPages-i mogli razvijati u budućnosti. ; In a nutshell, XPages is the new web-application development framework for Notes/Domino. That is, from version 8.5 forward, XPages is the recommended approach for anyone writing a new WEB application or embarking on upgrading such an existing application to a WEB 2.0 level. XPages is a Java runtime environment that supports all the defining features of Web 2.0, and it extends a standards-based framework known as JavaServer Faces (JSF). This document will introduce you to XPages at a high and general level. It will look at its provenance and history, revisit the initial goals of the technology, provide a broad view of the development paradigm it offers, and take a speculative look at how XPages may evolve in the future.
