Distributed applications in general and distributed hypermedia systems in particular require sophisticated language and run-time support in order to be able to construct efficient, reliable and extensible distributed software systems. Two language extensions of existing programming languages and their seamless integration for object-oriented multiparadigm distributed programming are described as well as their run-time system. The presented language symbiosis is intended for convenient and flexible software construction for distributed object computing in the context of hypermedia systems. Index terms: distributed multiparadigm programming, interoperable active objects, distributed object computing. 1 Introduction One of the important decisions with respect to the implementation of complex distributed software systems is the choice of the implementation language and additional tools. For large nondistributed industrial or scientific software systems there are a reasonable number of mor.
