This paper describes the use of the object-oriented programming language BETA for modelling and implementing a simple prototype of an ISDN D-channel layer 3 (I.451) entity. In particular, the implementation of ISDN supplementary services on top of the I.451 entity is considered using an object-oriented language, whereby several advantages are gained in comparison with other types of implementation languages. Aquaintance with the BETA programming language is assumed although the most vital constructs for use in this paper are explained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
