Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is used to transmit the identity of a person or an object with the aid of an RFID tag that has been programmed to be accessed by a reader without any form of contact using radio waves. The paper develops a prototype of an RFID-based canteen management system. The RFID card issued to each canteen customer makes their details available once their RFID tags are swiped across the reader, which has been programmed to work with the reader. The system was implemented using Python programming language, which takes up little memory as compared with other programming languages and works hand-in-hand with SQLite--a database application embedded in python. This system will make the management of Frizzlers canteen easier because it tends to eliminate the incessant queues encountered by the canteen customers when ordering or paying for their meals. The developed system also solves the problem of time wastage as customers can pre-order before getting into the canteen. The application of this RFID technology greatly improves the management of this canteen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
