Treffer: THE GENERATION OF DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGES.

The techniques for the production of diagnostic messages through the use of a message generator are reviewed briefly. A detailed description of the implementation of such a message generator for the PLUTO PL/I student compiler is presented. Statistics on the performance of this generator are presented to show that significant savings in storage space are obtained while maintaining a very high level of program detail reporting in the diagnostic messages.
